It looks like the Commerce Commission may make a meal of troubled Hanover Finance. A little too late really. If authorities like the commerce commmission, securities commission, companies office etc had their act together and enforced their ACT's, we wouldn't be this far down the toilet.

Baby Names

Are some parents thick, idiots or simply stupid??? Or are they secretly punishing their children for their own shortfall or misfortunes... got to be something... I cannot comprehend why anyone would want to name their child 'Number 16 Bus Shelter', 'Violence' or 'Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii'. I have a distant cousin that named their child 'Rebel'... this was some 15 years ago and yes, he is a rebel. Some idiot parents just need to grow up.

I noticed today that it made good press managing to get on many international parenting sites around the globe.

Dixon faker but still a murderer

Listening to the news today about Dixon hearing voices... whether he is faking it or not?

Who cares, he still murdered someone and seriously hurt others... what do we care about who he sees or doesn't see.... WHO CARES... yes I know defence are trying to establish insanity for a lessor sentence... come on... even if he is insane he doesn't deserve to ever get out.

And we already know that he's mad. For once I believe that there are certain humans that are a waste of space.

Truckies

I supported the truckies today.. lets face it they are doing what all us car drivers should do. Good on them for being able to come together and present a peaceful protest.

As I drove up a main road today I knew I would strike the truckies so I decided at a certain point I would turn right to go around them. Well, the stupid man in front of me decided to go straight. Obviously he couldn't go straight because of the line of trucks in the way and more coming, and if he had any common sense he would turn right. So two green light changes later, he must have woken up or something because he finally turned right. So the truckies didn't hold us up, it was an idiot male driver that obviously hadn't woken up.

Rape allegations

We all had it wrong... it being nearly all the information that was first reported on about the rape allegations. Of course their still remains the allegations, but no formal complaint yet.

She's not only a (possible) victim of rape but also a victim of the media.

Oviously I've never been in the position, I have been others... but not this one... so I find it difficult to understand why she wouldn't lay a formal complaint, or is it that I'm getting older and am a lot firmer in my opinions??? And yes I have heard the excuses but come on.... this complainant has taken the time and energy and most probably money to go to a solicitor????

So what the????

Solo Dads

I attend an event for toddlers every Saturday morning and there I always see a young dad with his daughter and I've always admired his patience and caring of his daughter. His daughter always turns up looking healthy and clean and tidy and happy.

I'm commenting because when I look at this dad he reminds me of wayward men who smoke dope. Now he could be for all I know and I will never know otherwise.
But what I do know is that every time I see him with his daughter he reminds me of a great dad.

Thick criminals

Thankfully some criminals are thick! or is it that they are tired? Surely the shoplifter new that his dna would link him to Marie Jamieson's murder. Or was he tired of that mental "being on the run" feeling that surely criminals must experience when they don't get caught... always looking over their shoulder. What a fantastic outcome for an old case.. now all we need to do is get it to court and get the rightful convictions. mmmmmm, I won't hold my breath but I will hope.

Rape or an excuse for the boyfriend

I wish there never were false complaints about rape. I really do... if there weren't we could rely on the complaints being forwarded and we wouldn't all be so skeptical when faced with them.

Take the recent rape complaint (not formal yet though) against members of the English Rugby Team.
This woman could have been raped, whether she is a skank or a groupie or what it doesn't matter, rape is rape and you just can't do that.
But if there is a rape, why not get the complaint formal. I'm skeptical, it looks like game playing to me.
Here is a thought from Sharemynz (http://www.sharemynz.co.nz/) ..."In this case, with a name like Angel Barbie, you can't but help think that a) she got what she was looking for and b) what the hell were the blokes thinking taking home someone by that name?"
Firstly, are you saying she got raped because she was looking for it... surely not.. especially representing a company as I found no name on your newsletter that contained your thoughts, surely you are the director of Sharemynz. You are a brave person. Looking for fun or sex or having sex with a rugby player does not quite compute RAPE.
So whether she was raped or not, only she and the players know.

Parole Board Games

It appears the parole board might do something right... the operative work being MIGHT! For crying out loud, do we care that he has been doing well and seems disciplined...NOooooo... Should he be taking drugs.... NOoooooo, hello it's illegal...

What on earth is this "consideration of a postponement order". Make a decision, come on... do it. Tell these people that they broke the law (well in this case he brutally and sickenly wiped out several family members)... braking the law just doesn't quantify that action.

Not only did he do that but now he's braking the law again.... Say YES to the postponement order, come on... Do something right for the family.

Paris Dog Hilton

Nothing like a grown child, as surely we cannot call this trantrum princess an adult yet.

Although sometimes I must wonder, is she merely a shrewd business woman..... Naaaaaa, that thought didn't last long.

Surely if these shinannigans were purely for buisness she would get sick and tired of the babyish attitude she has to portray.

Well I guess people have to make money somehow.... or not.

Corrections department .... mistake or... what?

Department of Corrections just can't do anything right, well at least the media doesn't report on the good. I always thought if someone lost highly sensitive material, it was on purpose... no such thing as accidents....

And how do you lose it anyway.... just quickly leaving the office for a quick stroll and just happened to pick up this file on the way out and haven't secured it in any way... derrrrr

As a manager of other companies data I know full well what it means to carry sensitive material around and believe me, I never just pick up a file and walk around with it, it's secured in a satchel or brief case first.

And what happened to attention to detail... hello, I'm now half a file lighter... or ... what was that suttle sound of a file hitting the floor... lol

As for Goff "this could destablise those on the list"... who bloomin cares, if you are silly enough to offend what do you expect. And at what point have they shown that offenders are stabilised???

Fuel Costs

WeBuy.co.nz (fantastic advertising) is now calling for a boycott of the major fuel companies to show our protest to rising fuel costs. Economically it would costs half the drivers the savings they will make just to drive to these fuel outlets and even though a boycott of the major ones will hit their pocket for a day, lets face it, we'll all go back to our convenient outlet the day after.
If it's too expensive for you, try taking a bus, riding a bike, walking or even car pooling.

Must admit the options aren't the easiest or the most timely. Guess it comes down to our own priorities. Needless to say I haven't given up the car yet.

Peter McNamara vs Victim

While I think all victims should move on and disassociate themselves from past trauma's, I have to say "how on earth could a victim move on when parole boards let perpetrators go just one third of the way into a sentence".

In this situation I agree with the victim in her challenge. Not because the Parole board didn't give weight to her submission but to the fact that this man comitted a terrible crime and was sentenced accordingly. Let him serve a minimum of 50% of that time before even considering his release. Better yet let him serve the entire sentence, lets face it New Zealand sentencing is crap.

Once again the Parole board must have more information than anyone else in the country because I fail to see anyone who supported his release.

Pink Graffitti....

Wellington City Councillor Iona Pannett is concerned that taggers are being shamed (in the way German homosexuals were by the Nazis), saying that they would be associated with gay men.

But Ms Pannett is the only one silly enough to confuse sexual orientation with sociopathic behaviour....

What a fantastic Editorial ... can't laugh enough about how confused Pannett is.
I'm also wondering what she has against Gay men?

Gosh I'm sick of looking after perpetrators. Lets face it, if it works... USE IT! Tag those taggers!

Get hard...

What else can we come up with to pamper our kids these days... too cold to play netball here in Christchurch and they should be able to wear trackpants etc to keep warm.... They say surely it's a simple change for Christchurch Netball to change the rules and let them wear what they want under their uniform....

Are you laughing your socks off.... did you play netball in the cold? Invercargill must think we are whimps....
Before long they'll be running around in full long john uniforms with nets on the side of the courts so they don't hurt themselves...
How far is this pampering going to go...

Discriminators

In-work tax credits.... discrimination against beneficiaries....

Get a life... better yet - get a job. Isn't that what it's called; IN-WORK. Easy to work out, if you work you get a tax credit. If you don't work you get benefits.

If you don't like the fact that others are getting the In-work tax credit... don't winge, don't miss out, just get a job!

Let's not lose sight of the fact that those working have more costs than those that don't work, i.e. travel and childcare at least.

Lifetime Victims

Poor old Louise Nicholas is at it again. She just can't stop beating herself up. She's now offering to confront Shipton if it's going to help him learn the err of his ways. Just let it go Louise, life's better on the other side of victimhood.

The other victims response to Shipton's latest hearing was that his words didn't mean anything until she has heard it straight from Shipton himself. Louise, you now have a following...

Why keep torturing yourself?

Britney Spears on parenting

Supernanny offers Britney Spears parenting advice.... Britney needs more than parenting advice honey, she needs a good kick up the a&$%.

Supernanny you'd be better off giving the whole Spears family parenting advice. Britney's parents need to know how to parent their famous children and Britney's sister is having a baby too and look at her role models.

Successfully Unsuccessful Parole Board

How is it that the public, the police and the corrections department could see that a serial sex offender was going to offend again but the Parole Board couldn't.
One would have thought at the time the Parole Board obviously had more information than anyone else to be able to confidently reject calls for the offender to be recalled siting that his intergration into society again was successful.
What a load of crap. What were they thinking. I bet they were being politically correct and legally honouring the perpetrators rights.

Well, we all know what that got us .... another victim!

k...k...k....kkk

Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board deputy chairman Dale Evans wore a KKK outfit to protest against Hoodie Day. He then went on to tell media he didn't mean to cause offence or racial disharmony.
Of course you did Dale otherwise you would have chosen a different outfit. You were making a point, a protest and it worked. I have no problem with people's freedom to express their opinion how they see fit. But let's own what we do and stand behind our actions and don't back down at the first sign of Political Correctness.
For those who were offended by it, get over it... there is more to life. There is only one meaning to be derived from what Dale did and that was his protest against hoodie day.

Employees

I thought the tides are turning and I think I might be right but it may take longer than I first thought. This week showed a company had to pay it's ex-employee $17,000 in compensation and lost wages. Compensation was for humiliation, loss of dignity and injury to feelings.

I'll sit on the fence of this one becuase we have bad employers and bad employees alike and you just can't tell who is really right in these cases.

But in this case I just have to highlight that if you have a back injury how can you drive to Queenstown for the ice hockey season, and why was his coach concerned the issue might effect his ability to gain a place in the national team?

His coach is talking about the issue effecting his ability, not his injury... what happened to his injury... surely that would effect his ability to play a full on contact sport like ice hockey!!!!!

Kelvin Cruikshank - Soul Food

I went along to one of the evenings with Kelvin and it was fantastic. Not only spooky medium stuff but humorous also. Like most people there we wanted someone or even anyone on the other side to talk to us but it was not to be, as was the case with most people there.

The fascinating thing was when Kelvin would say something that would indicate he was communicating to the right people, the living people would generally sit there going, no, no, don't recall that ... and then after some time the penny would drop. Slightly frustrating but funny at the same time.

The evening wasn't quite what I thought it would be but I left feeling a renewed faith in myself.

I'd recommend going to a show, as long as the $60 for the ticket isn't needed for cheese or fuel.

Business Owners behaving badly

Not only do business owners behave badly but the law and the companies office let them away with it.
They are like naughty little children with their business processes inlcuding anything from avoidance, non payment, blaming others, not taking responsibility and not understanding cashflow.

If you are thinking about starting your own business remember that there are a few out there that make it frustrating for all.

These are the wanna-be's that want it but just can't do it, so they trick everyone else into thinking they are professional business people but underneath they are just another wanna-be.

Jurors - serving their country

In a recent newsfeed a father comments that Jurors aren't equipped to do a good job and that in the case concerning Lipine Sila where he killed this man's daughter, they only came to the guilty murder verdict by chance.

Someone get that man onto a jury somewhere. Surely he hasn't been a part of this important service. Luckily I have served on jury service, although I probably would have commented even if I hadn't.
We have a justice system that works well in most cases (obviously not all - dig dig at the recent kahui case, although that had nothing to do with jurors). We can't just change the rules when it suits us.

In this case it actually worked, so who knows why he is bad mouthing the jurors. Those jurors worked long and hard at bringing the right verdict back to court. It's not easy taking time out of your home, work and personal life to challenge yourself to listen to the evidence, be pursuaded by the defence into thinking something completely different and then deliberate with a group of others to come to the same conclusion.

Lets be thankful to these jurors.

Maori in the middle

Ha ha, did you read the article Maori in the middle... not gang members, not rugby heroes but middle-class Maori.... what does that tell you about us?
I thought it said that there are some of those out there that are narrow minded, un-cultured and un-educated.
I've always been middle class and so has a large portion of my family and friends.
The article goes on to say that we may have to change our stereo typical views.... lol .... not I... but you maybe!

Media Frenzy: Chris Kahui | Macsyna King | Lipine Sila |

It seems that being a victim or a family member of a victim or a perpetrator or a near convicted perpetrator is the craze now. Once something happens that remotely involves us we are immediately compelled to succumb to the media attention and add fuel to it.
This week we saw Chris Kahui receive advice from a convicted rapist; Denise (Macsyna's half sister) shedding some light on why Macsyna is the way she is; Hannah's mum boldly stating she wants to talk to her child's killer Lipine Sila.

Can't you see that enough is enough; Chris doesn't need advice from a convict, shame on him, the convict just wanted his name in the press again and we gobbled it up. I'm sorry but I don't want to sensationalise a rapist; Denise, thanks for that insight but many of us grew up in less than desirable standards and hello we turned out okay. I cannot for the life of me pass on any empathy to Macsyna, even though she was not charged she is still responsible for those two deaths as she was the mother; As for Hannah's mum all I can say is, do you really think telling him what he did is going to make you feel better, if anything it will make you feel worse, why continue to torture yourself and the justice system is so protective of perpertrators that any attempt to kill him or stab him in the eyes will be met with his personal body guards fending you off. Not fair but true.

Kahui Twins Injustice

Another Injustice in New Zealand

The Kahui family today said they can finally put an end to this 2 year ordeal. I think NOT!!!!

Nothing will change the fact that the Kahui twin babies were killed by someone, but not just someone, but a close family member.

What a Sham! How dare people get in the way of the course of justice, how dare these families not assist in making the person responsible pay by way of justice.

As a nation we once again let our children down.
